28 spline or 26? the after market axel will be much stronger for sure but you can still strip the splines. if you got it try it. if not i wouldnt even spend the money on it. just buy a 8.5, 12 bolt, or 9\"

No. A big block over time would definetly kill it with any abuse. The mini-spool would only make it weaker, and is only available for the 26 spline axles.

The big block will make a 7.5\" go KABOOM with any sort of traction. The spool/ BB will allow you to mess up your truck bad if an axle lets go.

I\'d think you could have something built (turnkey) for about $2K. All the magazines have ads for reputable rear guys who build turnkey rears. Or, keep an eye on E-bay. And why the spool? Track only?

........... And regarding the strength of the 10 bolt, like Wild85 mentioned, traction (BIG tires) is the key. We\'re all guessing you plan on some serious tires, and with a healthy BB, yeah, I see a 9\" in your future. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

For instance, check out these guys... I never dealt with them, but just to give you an idea...

No problemo. When you build your rear, be sure to specify the same width, 54\" axle flange-to-axle flange if it\'s a 2wd PU, and axles drilled to your bolt pattern, 5 X 4-3/4\".

I had access to a junkyard 9 and center section already, then I bought axles for 300, housing ends for 60, a tracloc for 100, and bearings for 30. I narrowed the rear myself and welded up the bracketry. I fabbed up the rear frame from some box steel and bought some brakets from this place A and A manufactuing 50. Then got rod ends and threaded rods from this plave Stock car Products 100. If you don\'t have a welder it is worth the investment, you can learn how do the fabrication you can, I started all this when I was 17.
