I went outside and worked on my truck from 9:30-lil after 5:00. Its about 45 degrees, i layed in a stone driveway on cardboard, soaked in mud. I just got a good deal on flowmaster muffler and some trumpet tips. I thought, it would be cool to make my truck louder, and they say a gain of 12-15hp proven, so, maybe this will make my truck a lil more barable until i get all the parts for v8 swap. Results! Not a damn thing, it doesnt sound any bettter, i think it made my truck doesnt seem any faster or different. It pisses me off, i cannot stand the power my 2.5 puts out. Not a dang thing (cheap) helps. I priced it all out before i changed mind into doing the v8 swap, that for about 2k dolllars, i could get about 150-185hp. WOw, what a deal. NOT...I dont know how kids with 4 cylinders do it, lil exhaust, intakes, crap like that, 4 cylinders are so hard to get a lil horspower out of, it will cost u 500 dollars to get 20 dyno proven hp, when a v8 you could get the with headers, which range from autozone cheap (79 dollars) up to lots of money. Im sorry guys, but im getting real old of the power my truck puts out, its pretty damn bad when u cant pull away from a subaru forester. Its bad, when u chirp second, third gear, u look at the speedo and u just hit 50mph. I went out, got some li things for my motor so i can work and get that up and ready to go, ill be ordering parts from here after christmas with my ho ho money (i hope). Guys, sorry for this stupid off topic post, but man, i cant belive how annoying the lack of power is!!!! Am i the only one who cant stand the way their stock truck runs? Okay, i admit, the 0-30mph is outstanding! Especially down hill!!!! Gotta give it that, but thats it. last 4 cyl i had went pretty damn good, would beat my truck 0-60 anyday

prob had a better top speed also

well it only had 2 wheels, maybe thats why



it\'s seems pricey to get a 4cyl to perform, and i can\'t answer your question as to why these \"kids\" put all there money into them, but they do.

I\'d say the flowmasters make about 12 hp on a 400 horse motor or something like that. On a 4 banger I wouldnt think it would make a noticable difference. I put a K&N filter on my 350 and the only thing I noticed was quicker throttle response. I\'d quit dumping money in the 2.5 and start saving up for a swap.

I know how it is man. 2.5s are dogs and i have so many hobbies i dont know what to spend my money on, that is if i have any money. i have a glasspack on mine and it sounds alot different and there maybe a power differnce also because i have beaten other 2.5s in the quarter before.

I checked into doing some mods to my 97 2.2 but in the long run its not worth it. For around $1000 i could get about 50HP more out of it and that wouldn\'t even put it at 200HP total. Hell with it...it gets good gas milage and looks nice so thats good enough for a daily driver i guess. Beside i built my 86 for the need for speed purpose. I feel your pain man, Even when my 86 had the 2.5 in it, it would still kick my 2.2\'s ass. Hell a 3cly Geo metro is faster than my 97.

btw ive raced a \'96 (i think?) 2.2 stick w/ very loud exhaust and was beat by about 2 trucks.

Well my 2.2 is just damn slow then, i ran mine against my 86 with the 2.5 in it with my brother driving and it beat my 2.2 by about 2 car lenghts. And my brothers Geo...and its an automatic takes me top end, from a dead halt i will beat him in the quarter, but thats nothing i want to brag about. Yeap and its a 3cly, i have seen snowmobile motors bigger than that. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

i\'m proud to say i USED to own a 3 popper geo it was i believe a .9 liter but i beat the crap out of it and got 45 mpg .... but i coomend you for working on your truck in such conditions.i say save for a v8 swap and remember most the 4cly kids are playing with come factoy with more power than the throttle body injected 2.5 and are in a lighter piece of crap car so theres more potential i believe most \"kids\" cand bridge the generation gap from new to old school hotrodds-good luck with the project

whem i bought my 2.5 s10 for the swap i drove it only home and pulled the engine out with in a few days no messing around
