ok i have a question. i have a 91 s10 with a 350. i just redid the whole motor. bored .040, new forged crank, etc. it has a comp cam 262H extreme energy cam, rollors, weiland stealth, holley 600. i am running a TH350 with a stage 2 shift kit. my question is the cooling. right now i have a milodin high volume water pump, 87 aluminum vette radiator, a flex fan, and a 10 electric fan in front of the radiator. i also took the thermostat right out. my question is that driving it, it stays at 180 but as soon as i drive in traffic like crusing stop and go it jumps to 210-215. what else can i do?

How much of the rad does the fan cover? And do you have a shroud on it? Maybe try pulling the air through the rad instead of pushing it through, put the fan inside.

Try putting the thermostat back in. Without it the collant can flow too quickly through the rad and not cool

the fan covers all of the radiator. i should try a shroud. and i dont have enough room to mount the electris fan inside of the radiator.

also what radiator cap are you guys using 16lb?

Try disconnecting the e-fan in front of the rad.

my truck has lots of mods...and it did get hot all the time when i had the fan on the grille side ...so i got a thinner fan and put it on the motor side as a puller and it has;t got hot since ...maybe try that http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

whitethunder1300, that is my nexy mod, to put a set of dual 8\'\' fans on the engine side of the radiator, but i am still going to leave the 14\'\' fan on the front of the radiator too. One more fan cant hurt.

-Water Wetter-

I\'m a FIRM believer in this stuff! Could save some of u guys a lot of money on fans, radiators and pumps. I use Purple Ice/distilled H2O and it works WAY good. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Scroll down to \"Cooling Tips\" (http://www.inccn.net/techforum.htm)--Good Read!

if you have an external tranny cooler make sure its not in front of or behind the radiator because that could slow airflow. and make sure the tranny is cooled enough because if it runs hot the engine runs hot. I run a vette radiator, a touras fan and a 195 T-stat, it was 101 degrees today and i stayed cool at 200 degrees

Is the Touras fan the same as the lincoln Mark VIII fan? If so, no wonder yours runs so cool. There is a place that tested the flow on the Mark VIII fan, and guess what it flowed>>>>>>>4500cfm..Try to find a fan that is on the market now that flows anywhere near that! My friends around here rin the Mark VIII fan on their cars,I live in New Mexico, regular to see 110-118 deg temps. And they\'re cars dont get about 180. I wanted to get one but it also draws like 40 amps( or somwhere near that) So if any of you have a cooling problem, an a big alternator (100 amps or more) i can get you a link to the place that sells the fans...they\'re like $150, maybe less.
