i just aquired a 750 holley double pumper with mech.secondaries. i tore it down and i\'m now cleaning it out. i was just wondering if anyone could give me some tips on any mild tricks that are easily done. also this is my first carb rebuild start to finish. they are not that hard-i hope!! any suggestions would be helpful.

Clean, clean, clean. That is the most important thing. Then inspect evey part that you will reuse. Pay special attention to the throttle shaft and the bushings. If the bushings are worn they will leak air. They are also not real easy to replace. If this is your first rebuild I suggest taking it to a shop to let them replace them and ask if they will let you watch. Then you can do it next time. Keep all your parts orginized, there are a lot of them and don\'t worry if you have extra parts left over in the end. That is normal. Good luck!

I\'ve got a few thoughts:
... Like Grimpuppy said, clean is important. Also, (too late now!) when you tear it apart, take your time, check out each part, and it\'s purpose. And like ZR1 said, if you dig deep enough into the Holley site, Match your \"List #\" up, and they have all the details of your carb.
....... But most important. Do you know the history of that particular carb? Did it run OK before? Reason I ask, (this just came up in another recent post) is that a lot of Holleys get tweeked beyond what is needed. That\'s where the Holley site can come in handy. It\'ll tell you what jets, squirters, and settings your carb came from the factory with.
.......... If you didn\'t get a rebuild kit yet, you might consider Holley\'s \"Trick-Pak\" or whatever it\'s called. It comes with a bunch of handy items, and some good info. Another thing, if you\'ve got the time, each passage you clean, give it some thought as to what it\'s purpose is. For sure it ALL won\'t make sense at first, but before you know it, you\'ll be an expert.

when i disassembled the carb, i was cautious, trying to understand how everything went & works together. the carb has the choke assembly removed, the front jets are #64, the rears are #72. the rest of the carb \"seems\" to be stock. i also have two holley 670 street avengers carbs, one is new, the other also needs to be rebuilt. i\'ll probably sell both of them. ZR1- i\'ll contact you about the shaft seals soon, that deal sounds good, also, do you know anybody who would want my wheels & tires. they are posted up in here. saturday, i\'ll pull them off my truck and polish them up. let me know, i\'m flexible on the price.

i will ask around for you. also if you dont have the rebuild kit for your carb check ebay. i have seen BG kits for the holleys for around $35 and down. when your ready for the seals buy them and get in touch with me. and i will get it done for you.

the guy that gave me this carb told me it was a 750. i checked the numbers (list 4777-2, and 0598), which actually is a 650. oh-well i\'ll just rebuild it and sell it.

i would recommend that you get a holley carb rebuilding book. my boss has an older one that is incredibly informational. read it and really try to understand what all the passages are for, and how a carburetor works. i did just that when i rebuilt my 800 dp. it works really well now, even on my 3/4 ton suburban. although i\'m only getting 7 miles to the gallon! ha!

i\'ve already got a holley repair manual that covers this carb, that is for a stock rebuild and tuning. i was just wondering if anyone could give me some tricks that they have used. the only thing, this manual is older than my 2 670 street avenger carbs. i know it would cover the basic rebuild, but these carbs hevs \"new\" technology in them.
