Well, I know there are a lot of you guys out there who keep asking questions about installing a manual transmission in the S10 with the 350... well I chose this path too and after making several phone calls tonight, I found the transmission I was looking for.

The guy said it was a NV3500 out of an \'88 S10 with the 4.3. I have not seen it yet because they have to pull it out tonight and I\'m going to pick it up tommorow but I\'m getting excited. I payed $475 for it and they said there is a $50 core charge but I\'m gonna just give them my T5 which will hopefully cancel out the charge.

Anyways, my journey onto the lightly traveled manual transmission path has begun and I\'ll keep you guys updated on how it goes and what kind of work is going into it since I know there are several others with the same intentions. I\'m hoping for a direct bolt up with minor to zero crossmember and driveshaft mods. We shall see..

The NV3500 is all one peice. Theres no bellhousing. Just in case you didn\'t know. I know of more than one yard that has tried to pass of parts that weren\'t the right ones. I only say this because I didn\'t think the NV\'s came out till 89. Maybe Im\' wrong.

Hmmm, well I will definately double check this before I actually pick the thing up and make the payment final. I first mentioned out of \'88 or newer and he came back and said that they had it but he forgot that I told him out of a 4.3. He had quoted me at $425 for the first one which I\'m assuming was a T5 and he called me back later after I told him to double check that it was out of a 4.3 and he told me that he found the one I was looking for but it was $475. He didn\'t directly say it was out of an \'88 but I assumed that it was since that what he was searching for in the first place. I will pray that it is correct though.

Thanks for the quick info, I was aware that it\'s all in one piece but I will definately make sure of this when I go to pick it up. Now, there wasn\'t any other 5 speed that came with the 4.3 was there? I\'ve never heard of a T5 on a 4.3 but I could be wrong... I know they had the 4.3 in \'88 but I\'m not sure about 5 speeds... although I\'d assume they did have them.

Ok, I just skimmed over the JTR manual and it says the NV was from \'90 and newer S10\'s and \'89 or newer full sized. I specifically told the guy from an S10 so it would have to be from the right vehicle, I\'m just hoping that it was newer and not an \'88 and that he just didn\'t tell me, because that might mean it\'s wrong. But then again I go back to my last question. What manual transmission came with the 4.3\'s before that? Or was there one?

Ok, I\'m still doing research...

This is my update on what I have found:

I searched the web a little bit and came up with an interesting site covering several domestic manual transmissions:

<a href=\"http://www.motivegear.com/tech_info/tranny_guide/tranny_guide.html\">http://www.motivegear.com/tech_info/tranny_guide/tranny_guide.html</a>

Once again, according to that site the NV3500 came on \'90 and newer S10\'s. I figured this was my defeat but then I read over my Advance Adapters catalog (also quoted on their site) and I came up with \"In 1988, the S-series pickups offered a 4.3 V6, and still utilized the 700R or the NV3500 transmission.\"

Now, I didn\'t really understand what they mean by \"still utilized the NV3500\" because I wasn\'t aware of it\'s existence before \'88 but I put my faith in Advance Adapters and hope they are correct.

Then again maybe I\'m stressing over nothing and it\'s out of a different year S10 and he didn\'t tell me. Honestly I don\'t see how you guys couldn\'t find me annoying, I just keep going and going and thinking out loud. I think my forum title should be Spaz. I post more in my own topics than the other members do http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif Either way I\'ll find out tommorow...

I have never been able to find any other 5 speed that came behind the 4.3 other than the NV 5 speed. I was told there were a few versions of the NV, the 1500 and 2500, but the 3500 was the most common.
