Ok... I want to put a 5-speed in my truck... What would be the best bet, and what complications did you occure... What about a muncie 4-speed, will that work???

Tremec 5 speed, or a Richmond 5 speed.. A muncie is a good trans too and price vary on which one you get. Stay away from T-5s if you plan on putting much power at all through them. Gm wouldnt even trust them behind a stock TPI 350 in a Camaro. Although it can easily be done.

Super T-10 is a good 4 speed also.

Ok, first off if you want a REALLY in depth write-up on the NV3500 install, check out the article I wrote a few years back. It\'s been on this site forever but it seems people haven\'t been able to find it.

NV3500 Install Article (http://s10v8.com/article.php?sid=64)

I\'ll help you more tomorrow when im not tired but that will get you started. Off the top of my head I can tell you a few things. What engine/trans combo did your truck have previously? It should bolt up no problem. Hydraulics work off of the stock master cyl whether it was originally T5 or what have you. Slave cyl has to be specific to the NV3500, cam be ordered from parts store. Some trans tunnel pounding was require for me to get the shaft lined up but no biggie. Stock crossmember should work fine but you will probably have to buy or make your own mount, I went from T5 to NV and mounts were different style and about 2 inches off lining up. I had to have my driveshaft shortened about an inch but I\'ve heard that usually the stock one works, I guess a lot depends on your engine placement.

Off the top of my head that\'s it for now. I guess ill think of more tomorrow, let me know if you have any more specific questions. In a nut shell, the swap is pretty simple to do. Some minor mods will make it bolt right up.

I chose NV3500 for convenience. To my knowledge it\'s the easiest bolt up manual tranny for the swap. Tremec T56 would be the nicest choice if you have the money and time to do some fabbing. IMO the T5 (camaro) isn\'t worth the trouble of getting to fit. The slave cyl blocks the exaust and things just don\'t line up right and on top of that, after all that work it\'s not really a strong tranny to begin with. That\'s without personal experience though, maybe the T5 has worked great for some people. As for Muncie\'s and whatnot, couldn\'t comment on them since I\'ve never seen in depth installment of one. They\'re solid tranny\'s but I garuntee they take involved crossmember mods plus driveshaft modification to work. Not sure about hydraulic lines..

Shouldn\'t be too much of a hassle. I haven\'t looked at the ratchet style pedal but im guessing you could use the same clutch pedal, just need to cut a hole for the new master cyl to mount and go from there. If not, you could just grab a clutch pedal out of a hydr style s-10 from the junkyard and bolt it right up.
