Hey guys,
I\'m having potential driveshaft issues, which you know if you read my other post. Short version: the yoke needs to be about 1\" further inside the trans. Here\'s my Qs:
1. Could angled 3\" blocks instead of straight blocks make enough difference to put it back where it needs to be?
2. If #1 doesn\'t work, what car might I find a driveshaft out of that I could have shortened, but the ends would still fit my th350 and 7.5 rearend?
Thanks,
Jeff

hey jeffboy, the angled blocks would only give you (at the most) about a 1/2 inch. i believe a shaft out of a 80\'s to mid 90\'s camaro rs would work. i think that is the shaft that i\'m running- i think. but you might want to still ask around anyways.

Did you have to have your driveshaft shortened to work? You don\'t happen to know how long it is, do you? I looked on car-part.com and saw that they made an aluminum driveshaft for some of those cars That\'d be pretty slick. I might try angled blocks anyway - I have a feeling I could use them.
Thanks,
Jeff

Another idea... JTR sells axle setback plates... i haven\'t looked at them close enough, but im sure you could turn them around and use them to set the axle forward instead of back. They only move it about 1/2\" but it could be just enough if you combine it with the angled blocks. Just an idea, although getting the proper driveshaft would be the best route to go.

I\'ll have to measure the wheel inside the wheel well. If it\'s already mounted more toward the front of the wheel well, I don\'t really want to move it farther forward. We\'ll see.
Anyone know if a driveshaft can just be lengthened, or does it have to be completely re-tubed? I\'m thinking about trying to find a longer driveshaft that can be shortened to my needs. I guess it\'ll all work out.

Pretty sure they have to be re-tubed. I\'ve never heard of a machine shop being able to lenghten a driveshaft by section. They\'d have to have the exact same size tubing and perfect welds and balancing... it just doesn\'t really work and isn\'t a good idea.

the shaft is a little under 3\" longer than the stock shaft that was in my truck. my truck was 91\' reg cab, short bed, 2.8/ 5 speed trans, now it has 355 sbc 350th, and stock rear end. like i said, i\'m not 100% what the shaft was originally for, but the guy who gave it to me said it came out of a 90\' rs camaro.
