so my engine builder calls me today to let me know he found the main oil hole is intersecting a lightening hole in the rod pin. It\'s an eagle forged crank that I bought new from a big ebay dealer/speed shop in vegas. They haven\'t been real helpful so far and I\'m waiting for a call back from eagle, so I figured I\'d pop this up here and see what anyone has to say. anyone have a similar experience?

my machine shop said stay away from eagle cranks , has had three out of the box machined incorrectly enough not to turn over when assembled. i\'ve seen that same ebay guy sell factory 10-10 cranks . ya think they have a problem?

Sorry to hear about that Andy... My first thought was thank God that the guy found that problem. Seems like something that could have easily been overlooked. That rod bearing wouldn\'t have lasted long. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif

........ I\'m trying to picture how that could be. How much of the crankpin in bored out?

but yeah, it\'s a good thing he caught it! I haven\'t seen it, so I don\'t know how bad it is. He said it could\'ve easily been missed, he kinda caught it by accident while shining a light in the main oil hole he saw light coming out the lightening hole.

actually, it has...

but as long as I can return the crank, we can use the numbers for the rest of the parts to balance the new crank (I have the balance card).

Aww Andy http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_frown.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_frown.gif

Sorry to hear about the problems... just when you were getting the thing together! I hope Eagle backs you up on it, and if not then I hope the ebay guy atleast sends you a new one or something. None the less it\'s a good thing it wasn\'t installed to rip your new beauty to pieces. Keep us up to date on it.

Who\'s the seller on Ebay? Dyoflow sells alot of that stuff on Ebay and there are out of Vegas. I was looking at a motow 434 short block set up they sell. I searched on the net and found some message boards from Vegas that people have had a lot of problems with them. Decided not to buy the short block from them. With CNC machines theres no excuse for an operator to go to deep with an oil hole or take to much out of the middle of a journal. He probably knew he screwed it up at the factory but didn\'t want the a$$ chewing so he sent it out anyway.

i\'ll tell you what next... someone\'s going to steal your boyd coddington rims! me! oh..

no, sorry to hear about the bad luck man. i feel that i\'ve had some pretty bad luck too so far. i think it\'s how the game is played. honestly, it wouldn\'t be any fun if your machinist called you up and said \"we just dyno\'d your motor and it made 650 horses! unbelievable!\" Then you get it installed and never have any problems, you got nothing to work on then. this is half the fun ain\'t it?

LOL, if they ever do get stolen I\'ll point the cops to this thread. You\'re screwed!

Ha, very true. Except if I ever did get the motor running right I could work on other areas of the truck. I was supposed to have the interior and rear suspension done by now! Oh well, if there\'s one thing I\'ve learned from this whole experience it\'s patience. That and everything that can go wrong usually does.

just give them hell when you call back. if they say they cant do anything then you will pass the word through various web sites and show people the problem everytime you go to the track. thats what i had to do with world products. they finally seen things my way. eagle is a big company especially in the past few years they have been growing fast. they dont need the bad word put out. and racers tend to talk to more racers and so on. good luck man. hate to hear the bad news.
