Wasted a Vette Tonight

This is only the second time I ran against someone on the street. It was a newer vette that thought could beat me. Well, that was not the case. I better stop this before it gets bad.

I have seen the vette around our small town. The guy likes to rev the engine at stop lights. I had returned a pressure washer to the rental store and was returning home. I saw him a couple cars up so I passed to get along side of him. There is another red truck a bit like mine in town that has a v6 in it. It has a black hood and mine is red. Mine is lowered and his is not. I think the guy in the vette thought I was the other guy. I kinda wonder about that because mine barks a bit more than the v6. We stop at the light and he looks at me as if he wants to race. I wasn\'t sure that is what he wanted (I am new at this) but the way he took off on the green I had no doubt. His back bumper was next to my door when I took off. I spun and let off a bit and then hit it again. By the time we were through the intersection and a bit down the road I passed him. We got to the next light and he gave me the bird. I can\'t figure that one out.

cool story. what are the specs on your truck? if the driver knows what they\'re doing, those C5 vettes can be danerous. they\'re low 13\'s/high 12\'s from factory. Sounds like you got the job done. I think my favorite part of the story is knowing that you were just out returning a pressure washer in your pickup, while he was probably out looking for trouble. Stock C5 should be mid 12\'s, at around 108-109 mph.



I wish I had some vid of the guy in the WS6 trans am that thought hed * with me. Im bound and determined to get a camera and some footage this year.

it most likely was not his vette and and he didn\'t care what you thought. most people in fast cars give you the thumbs up after you spank them.at least thats my experience. most pull you over and want to know what the f!#> is in that thing even cops!

I guess you race some good guys around you then....I\'ve only had one guy on the street lose gracefully...and that was a SRT4 neon.



I most usually get the finger, or they just speed off and not even look at me.

Most stock c5\'s are more like low 13 second cars. Z06\'s are closer to low-mid 12 second cars.

Its all in the driver. I\'ve seen stock C5\'s pushing 108-109 in the 1/4. Thats good for mid 12\'s.



I know a guy from the s10forum with a 00 Z06, nittos, and only a cold air induction kit. Hes knocking on 11\'s with some 12.0XX runs.

i had a cop ask what i was running.



i had just made a run with my g-tech meter, and half way or better though the run, I saw him sittin there. Well crap, i just pulled over, and he pulled out, and pulled in behind me.

better than 70, i\'m sure

I then explained what i was doing. he was kool about it. he even told my wife (yes, she was with me) to keep me in line. she told him she told me not to do it. he advised me to listen to my wife. he did ask what i had under the hood, and commented it did sound good at full song as i passed him. He did not ask to see it though.

yeah, I bet with a good driver and a perfect launch a C5 vette with run high 12s. I think it was chevy high perf mag who had an article where a factory chevy driver got a bone stock z06 vette to run 11.9s at englishtown (since it\'s slightly below sea level - nice to have as my local track).



and every once in a while you do get the cool cops. I got pulled over once where all the guy wanted was to bullshit about what I was running in it. Then when he let me go he told me he wanted to hear it at full throttle. His words were \"you can go ahead and get on it pulling outta here if ya want.\" So, of course I obliged with a nice long smoky burnout. I wish they were all like that.

There is no such thing as a 00 Z06, the first year was 01. I have heard of 02 and newer bone stock Z06\'s running 11.9\'s on street tires with a great driver.



Most Z06\'s will run low to mid 12\'s with a average to good driver and most c5\'s will run low 13\'s.

there\'s no such thing as a 30k vette, i think they start at 40-45k(C6 might be more), but any you\'ll see on the street are 50-60k.

I had a cool cop pull me over while(in stupidity of youth) I was leaving a city park at 11pm. The truck had ran 13.24@ 107, but this night I was showing off my truck that I just had added a 250hp shot of nitrous.



My Girlfriend was sitting in the middle on top of the NOS tank, and my friend was in the passenger seat. I saw him come around the corner and I just stopped. He took about a minute to do a 3 way turnaround.



Long story short, I was in college to be a cop, he saw my books, and ended up I was ging to the school he graduated from. We talked so much he pretty much forgot about how dumb I was being, and never noticed there wasnt a seat under my GF, lol

I\'ll try to get more in on Thursday. I am not done on the inside yet. We are installing a new floor. I bought a new balancer tonight and plan on installing it Friday. Posi goes in on Friday as well. I bought some 4.11 gears, but may stay with the 3.73. Not much difference anyway.
