it cost me 800 bucks just to get flames painted on my hood..... and thats only on onw half we only painted the flames too the rest of the hood was fine so we wet sanded it painted the flames on and recleared it... but custom jobs get real expensive really quick
Lot to consider when repainting. For a professional complete color change without needing any body work, it\'s necessary to remove doors, fenders, hood, lights, bed, etc. just to insure full coverage. So alot of $$$ have racked up prior to painting. A cheaper route would be to repaint the same color so doorjams etc. would match the new paint without having to be repainted. Lots of difference in the prices of the paints. You could go with a single stage paint which doesn\'t require a clearcoat. Normally costs under $100 a gallon and comes in a variety of bright colors such as the orange you are desiring, or you can go with some of the color changing paints which can go upwards of $35 per ounce and has to be clearcoated which varies in price and is not cheap itself. Fortunately some bodyshop employees have small garages behind their houses where they do work on their own projects or for their friends without the overhead of the bodyshops, which are geared toward insurance jobs. These gentleman painters can work with you maybe letting you do most of the labor and still ending up with a quality paint job at a fair price, plus you will gain knowledge and experience towards your next paintjob. :-o

Paint jobs can definetly be expensive if you want the body straight and flawless your going to end up payin for it. Your better off having one person do the job start to finish. Depending on color and if you want like a metallic or pearl in your paint the price goes way up I paid about $450 in just supplies for my friend to do the paint and body work. Came out pretty good can\'t complain. However if you have a shop paint the truck they have to guarantee there work if something comes out bad.
