I was driving home last night doing about 60 mph. the engine just quit. died instanly and the truck coasted to a stop.
I checked for fuel and I for sure have it. I checked for spark and I for sure don\'t have it.
Does anybody have any ideas. I have a \'90 305 tbi.

most likely a bad ignition module in the distributor or a bad ignition fuse. are you running msd or anything?

My guess is module in the distributor. My 93 Blazer would run fine till it got warm. Thought my coil went bad. Wound up being the module.

wait till it cools down and try to start it. if it starts then you got a bad module. whatll happen is the module will heat up and take a shit on you. if it is the module and you end up replacin it you NEED to put the heat transfer grease on the bottom of the module. you can get it at radio shack...same stuff they put on processors in computers. thats alot of the reason they go bad in the first place.
past that, check that you got hot and ground to the coil. if you have a multimeter then check the resistance in the coil.

i have an 87 chevy that did a similar thing, check your wires at the starter, and make sure your headers hadn\'t burned 1 into like happened on mine, good luck, sometimes wiring grimlins can be tough

Thanks guys, I had the module tested. It was bad in all modes, only the reference pulse pin tested ok. I put a new module on and presto, the damn thing works, along with many other problems i had obviously incorrectly atributed to MAP, fuel, and air. What a diference, and it only cost $55 CDN.
Thanks
