gee if i were only a thousandaire, i\'d do an AWD astro or safari V8 conversion. I think it\'d be awesome. Race the DSM\'s on the way to soccer practice.

There\'s a real decent website all about it.. www.astrosafari.com

I\'ve never seen a V8 astro around here, but i\'ve seen a few s10\'s.. I always like to be different in an envious way. I wouldn\'t be too proud to drive a minivan, or midsize van, especially if it was small block powered. I don\'t know, what do you fella\'s think?

There is an Astro with a V8 not too far from me. It is around Gun Lake. It looks and sounds good. If I am not mistaken, it is tubbed.

about 3 years ago i helped a freind do one.(thats why i wanted to do the s10) he left the whole van stock. and used a stock l98 but took the tpi off and used a carb and intake. he also used the same exhaust with minor mods and found the quietest muffler he could find. it was pretty cool. no one ever knew unless he mashed the go peadel.

i would build a v8 astro van in a heartbeat...just imagine pulling up to a mustang and smoking him at a stop light and the look you get at the 2nd light!

YESS!! s10 v8 manual mentions it. it's supposed to be the easiest v8 conversion out there.

The Astro I owned had fiberglass springs in the back. I wonder if they changed them? Didn\'t Vettes have them at one time?

fiberglass springs huh? completely new to me.

The last few days i\'ve been noticing there are A LOT of older astro\'s still on the road, and surprisingly enough a lot of them are AWD, some in real good shape. I hope there are still a few around in about 4-5 years when i\'ll have money and know-how to jump in the hot rod game.

It\'d probably be a huge pain in the arse doing an all wheel drive one.. it\'d all break under any real power. But there would be nothing better than smoking all 4 wheels at a stop light in a fricken grandma van..

do you follow JayDee\'s example and go total sleeper or do you slam it with some sweet 19s and totally pimp it out? choices, choices.

sorry bout the use of the word \"pimp\".

Buddy of mine has one. The van has the stock look. Wheels and all, But has a 383 under the hood. The 383 is pretty much stock. With the full body van it still runs mid to high 10\'s in the 1/8th http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
