ok, I am seriously planning my swap now (got the ok from the wife finally) and was wondering somethings. I am considering the swap kits availible on this site. I will prolly go with the MAX cause of the parts it comes with. How do the headers with the kits compare to others? I was considering getting the heddman long tube headers. Also, the radiator, could I find another that will work better, cheaper? Do I need to do any mods to put it in, or will it just bolt in? Also, could I get comparable parts cheaper piece by piece? All I want is a good running daily driver that will eat some imports and keep up with other american muscle (stangs, camaros, etc.)

You can build one cheaper (less $$$$) but it usually takes alot more time and could end up costing the same in the end.

The manual will give you all the parts list that can be best utilized to make this a very reliable swap. Most piece can be bought from a salvage yard. Except for the mounts.

I have done a few conversions and bought my 1st set of mounts. then made the rest by coping.

You can find a lot of info from other postings listed here other piece people have used that are not the norm.

The first one I built there was no kits, or web sites or any info on swaping. My buddies and I just stripped a caprice and stuffed in everything that we could get to fit.

Space.

Unless your truck is going to be 90% race or more, I would consider shorty headers vs. the long-tube Hedmans. Do a seach on this site and you\'ll find a lot of info about how much work they are to fit, and grief in general. Long tube headers look real good in theory, but a real pain with the S-10s.

so any performance gain is not worth the hassle for a fast daily driver? I am not goin to be settin any records at the track with this thing so...how much difference do long tubes really make anyway?
