started out on street tires and only could pull a 7.5 with 1.75 sixty foot. looked lean on topend. switched to slicks and got her down to a 7.22 with 1.60 sixty at 93.50 mph. i\'m just tagging the gas pedal at the start , for some reason it stumbles real bad if i bring it up on the convertor.maybe i need to hook up the two-step box! or put in the transbrake! my other problem is if i jet the carb any bigger than 87 jets it wont runworth a f#!\" on bottom end and top end doesn\'t sound right. i borrowed this carb a holley 830 dp annualar boosters.the owner said he had the same problems with it and went with a 1050 dominator. i read the holley performance book and it says to drill out the power valve wells , because they are to small . but again this is not my carb so i can\'t cut on it. what to do?

Marky, I get the best results with my truck just stabbing it off a slightly high idle. I think it lets the converter \"flash\" higher that holding it against the converter. But then again, your truck has a lot more potential than mine.

........ and regarding the jets, is the fuel pressure at the carb OK at the top? And are you sure it\'s lean at the top? Only way to be sure is to install on O2 gauge or recording device. I never had ANY luck reading spark plugs, even with a clean shut-off.

there was a 2 hour delay when i got to the track so i pulled a couple of plugs and they were balck as black could be from the 12 mile trip at 2600 rpm.first run hit rev limiter, 75 feet to go, 2nd run pulled the hoe way. pulled a plug tip very white outside of plug still black.5th run pulled couple plugs electrode metal color ceramic all turning bright white. i\'m pretty sure she\'s lean on top end. i\'m thinking about testing some 750 metering blocks and drilling them out to see if i can richen the top end
