For what? If you just doing strickly drag racing, they\'re great.
Anythng else, don\'t bother. I had one on the street. From abuse on the street, I ended up sheering the carrier in half.

Have you ever driven a car with a spool in the rear end?? It freaking annoying as heck, and it wears out your tires.
Plus it isnt safe, you need your wheels to turn at different speeds when on the road.
Like said, strickly drag.....GO for it...

If you have good power and ever hook up the mini spool probably won\'t last.

Sure, it would be fun, if you think breaking stuff is fun.
Seriously though, not a good idea, especially not for the street. They are intended for dirt circle track cars.

Around here a junkyard posi rear is about$125 and the mini spools are about $100 minispools just dont seem very safe http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
i hear alot of guys talking about spools, posi\'s and the like. First of all i will say the spools for these trucks are junk. My buddy has a high 7 sec. 1/8th mile truck that has munched two of those and an axle. He and i are currently running the same setups in the stock rear end. 28 spline axles, factory posi unit from a 98 z28, welded axle tubes, and lakewood slapper bars. there is about 20 runs on mine and about 50 runs and 5k street driven miles on his with no probs yet.
Thanks

Chevy kid~
i know where you are coming from. i am usually short on cash, and i WELDED my spider gears. it was not the smartest thing ever, but to hear these guys (some, not all) it is a death sentance. not true. it is not a smart thing to do (squeels around corners, can\'t manuver in a parking lot, and never knowing when you might loose an axle). however, i DRIVE MINE A LOT, JUST CAREFUL
