Hey everyone,

My truck has been starting fine then the other day I went to start and nothing happened. I have interior lights, radio, headlights and so forth. Battery is fully charged and had it checked. I had the starter checked also. When I turn the key nothing happens at all not even a clicking noise. All fuses checked out ok also. I am unsure what it could be other the ignition switch the key is in, in the column. Its new from napa but not sure what the world is going on. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Howard

MAKE SURE THE SWITCH WIRE TO THE STARTER IS GOOD. SOME TIMES THE WIRES BREAK INSIDE THE INSULATION.

sorry caps, use a meter to see if you are getting power when the key is turned.

The switch wire would be the smaller wire on its on stud on the starter correct? The other one is a hot wire coming from the battery with two green wires that gone the smae post as the hot wire from the battery.

yes. the wire on its own stud.

Just to prove a point, jumper the large terminal to the small terminal (if you can get in there) and the starter should crank. If it does, work backwards from there, finding out what isn\'t allowing power to go to the starter.

Well it was break in that switch wire. It has obviously been broke not completely apart but almost and some corrosion had set in on it. Just cleaned it up and soldered it back together and some new shrink wrap on it and it came back to life like magic.

Thanks
