my 2.2 died today. long story. iv decided to put a 305 in her . q: will a 700r4 fit the conversion ,out of a 90 4x4 blazer. my buddy says no they are different.
also,which would b better , a 350 turbo/700r4.

Tranny won\'t work, because it won\'t have a tailshaft. The transfer case will be bolted to it.
And, if it could, would have to be from a 4.3 truck.
I prefer a 700R4, for the overdrive.

yah unless yours is 4x4 the 4x4 700 wont work. but any other 700 2wd tranny will. im like ZZ4 i would take the overdrive tranny over the 3 speed tranny.

how hard is it to change tail shaft,on700r4.does it require a teardown,or a matter of unbolting something or what. its going behind a 305,which i already have,so its not any money outta pocket,sofar.
also its for the truck posted:lowered short bed singlecab dime
the trans is outa 90 4x4blazer s10 that i have already w/ busted ass rods......

i know someone that did it i can ask if i can get ahold of him. the tailshaft just unbolts so you can swap those but you have to swap the output shaft as well. once you swap tail housings you will see that the 4x4 output shaft with 2wd tailhousing will be to short. and i dont know if you have to dissasembal the trany to swap output shafts?

ok you have to completely disassemble the tranny to swap the out put shaft. sorry to be the barer of bad news.

not necessarily, bad news,cause it gives me a reason to make sure it ok,could probably get it rebuilt for 5 or 6 bills.... maybesure they got a tail shaft around somewhere...
