View Full Version : So Confused....
Ran the blazer tonight and its acting like a good old dog. No matter what you do to it it wont speed up or slow down..moved timing all around from 34-40 total.. adjusted air pressure up and down from 10-18. 60 ft fell off with the 18#s but ET only dropped 4 hundreds... Whats the fastest yall have ran on stock rear suspension with slapper bars..? im wondering if its just as good as its gonna get suspension wise so an power increase is just being wasting through the chassis. Im on the stock rear, 4.56s, camaro posi unit from a 98, 28 spline axles, and lakewoods..60fts are pretty consistant in the mid 1.6s..i just find it weird the truck didnt react major from some pretty major adjustments...advise fellas.. i kow in the future im going to an 8.5 with caltracs. what yall think...oh yea worse run tonight 7.08 best run 7.02...

Ray.
Those are some impressive numbers on a 1.60 short time. Try and change your whole timing curve. Give it more initial and bring it in faster. You might want to read your plugs after any timing changes. Could be going lean or rich which is why your not seeing any difference. Try and flash your converter. Let me know if that helps. Are you preloading your right rear? Have a good day. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

have you ever tried leaving on a 2-step. thats what every one at the track is telling me to do. telling me to adjust the rpm so that i can hold it back at its highest rpm before the brakes can\'t hold it bach anymore.

Yeah, that is pretty impressive, particularly the consistency. Sounds like you\'ve got a GREAT hook. I wouldn\'t mess with that at all, assuming you\'ve got zero wheelspin, which is probably the case considering the consistency.
......... I\'d be working on the HP at the your stall speed, or raising the stall speed, to lower the already good 60 ft. time.
well, after reviewing some video of last nights runs im convinced the posi unit is giving up. Start doing burnout while holding it in one spot both tires spin, i then let off brake and let it spin for a couple seconds more, at that point left rear tire bites ..right rear spins. I think its consistently spinning off the line heh. Oh well, ima test this posi unit on the road today and see exactly whats happening.
As far as timing, i have the msd distributor with the lightest advance springs now...timing is all in at around 2800. where is normally the best results on a small block...36 38? Also my convertor is a lil tight cause its a nitrous convertor. i can get about 2300 on the footbrake comfortably and itll flash 35-3700. If i had more convertor id try the two step but i dont think its worth it now. Both slapper bars are jammed tight on the leafspring so im gonna say yes they are both preloaded. I still think the 60ft will come down and this thing is capable of consistent 6.90s. i hope anyways..

Have you tried launching off an idle? High enough of an idle where it won\'t hesitate. I\'ve had my best results doing that, \'cause converter will flash to max..... worth a try if you haven\'t already.
never tried it scotty. good idea though.
the posi is junk im sure. today on the road it spins grabs spins ..i think im not gonna do any better till i get a better rear end. Heres a silly question. Do yall tune for et or mph..i talked to a guy today that says he has always tuned for best mph. seems to me like time from point a to point b in drag racing is the name of the game. im still confused. lol
thanks

Ray,
You\'ve given us your 60ft times, and your 1/8 times...but nothing about MPH, so obviously you don\'t place a premium on that part of your time slip.
You can tune the chassis with 60ft times, but the engine is better served if you tune for MPH. With those 60fts., and 1/8 mile times, I\'ll just take a wild guess that you are somewhere around 97-99 Mph.
It\'s not unusual for posi equipped vehicles to have one tire grab before the other coming out of the burnout box, I woudn\'t condemn that part as the problem. Your 60fts are about as good as I would expect given the tight converter and rear suspension.
mph ranges from 99-102. this is an old problem already in the works of building a narrowed 8.5 and some kind of homeboy network ladder bar setup.
