my 4.10\'s are in at the speed shop and i\'m going to pick them up tomorrow. I\'m reading alot of posts about how 4.10\'s are way to crazy for the street. I don\'t want to lose THAT much top end. I am going to primarily race my truck, but i like to cruise it every now and then. I don\'t want to be running 70mph at like 3500 or 4000 rpm with a 5500/6000 rpm redline, i\'d run out of motor before even crossing the 1/4 probably. I\'m starting to think i should\'ve got 3.73\'s. I\'m going to be running a 200 shot of nitrous too.

Alot of the gear (feeling) depends on the ratios of the tranny your using. For instance with my TH400. . . .70 mph. cruising is exactly what you said approx. 3600 rpms. and believe me when you get into it the gears fly by. A 700r4 will feel alot different than a powerglide and a TH400. And I would imagine a TH350 so feel somewhat like the 400. Ideally the thing to have is a t56 6-speed so you can have not one but two overdrive gears. . . .which really help w/ cruising comfort and gas!!! I myself am about to change out of my 4.11s to something like a 3.55 or 3.42! I just put on a flowmaster 50 delta flow mufflers to reduce the growl at cruising speeds and it only helped moderately.

If you think it is too much gear just go with a taller tire. That will gear it down some. Pkus taller tires have a larger contact patch, which helps traction.

Well i took it all apart today..replaced all the races and everything, got it shimmed perfect i think, but i forget how the pinion set up goes..back(large) bearing then crush sleave then smaller front bearing?? something happend and the goddamn nut is getting tight right away on the pinion even with a 3/4 inch impact gun, hopefully i can get that straightened out and get it back togther. I\'m done working on it for the night and i\'m wondering about the pinion gear
