first swap ever HELP 700r4

alright i got a 4.3 1990 s-10 long bed i just put a new 700r4 in my truck its got maybe 6,000 miles on it all most highway and some offroad mudding its a 2wd with a 5 inch lift and 31\'s on it i think its got 308 gears i really aint sure since i put the new trans in it the damn motor blew and now i have a mildly stock 350 cam intake headers and a 650 i want to keep the trans and everything in it just put the 350 in it its going to be mostly driving on road and little racing since i cant afford much of nething if anyone has a way to keep the trans working right and everything good let me know please help i dont know anything at all about trans thanks undefined

Back when I was gonna put a 700r4 in my s10 I also had a 83 T/A with a 700r4 carbed. So what I was going to do was just take the trans and everything out of the trans am. The early 80s camaros that were still carbed i think 82-86? have 700rs and carbed. So just get the tv cable bracket off one of those.

I hope that 700r4 holds up with that 350 because there is two 700r4\'s the one like you have for the v6 which only has 4 clutches and the one for the v8\'s which have 6 clutches and are stronger. good luck.

well off to the scrap yard to find a tv cable and i am thinking since the trans is only has about 6000 miles on it it might work just till i can afford to get a new 700r4 rebuilt so i can handle the power cuz i am kinda liking the whole overdrive b/c i drive about 280 miles on the highway every other weekend plus this is a lil off topic but anyone around indiana or illinois ever go to liberty pull apart they are one of the best and cheapest u pull it yourself scrap yard thanks for the info

hey guys i heard a turbo 350 with a 9 inch tail will work with the same drive shaft is someone yankin me or they serious i think i have my 700r4 traded for a turbo 350 and 200 bucks

They aint yankin your chain a th350 with 9\" tailshaft will work w/o driveshaft mods.

thanks well i found out what trans i am running even though i wont have any gas milage but hey if i am puttin a V8 in a s-10 i guess i shouldnt have though about that newayz lol oh well i still got my car i can drive if i gotta have mpg thanks for the info

I\'m running a stock rebuilt 700R4 from a 86 firebird, works great and my motor makes about 380HP.
