got a 91 s10 with a 350 tbi motor in it. at idle it sounds like it missfires but it is a consistant "bump" if you will. and i think that is part of what is boggin the truck down. i ran my buddy in his 94 integra, and he sat right next to me. also, i did a cat delete and put an msd coil on it. the coil looked stock and was rusted lookin. got that fixed and it ran better but im pretty sure that motor has more potential than an effin honda...anyone have any ideas or things to look for. its kind of annoying havin a 4cyl sit next to a small block. and also, ive seen several post about vortech heads? what is nessesary to get those thrown on the motor, tunes, head work, diff intake? kinda curious. thanks again for the help

I went to a couple yards today looking for some vortec heads and found several sets on Cash For Clunker trucks. The guys at the yards said they can sell the heads off of them but not the whole engine (which is fine as I already have the shortblock). My question is the engines, from what I am told have had some kind of chemical poured in them to make them not reusable, so does this "chemical" do anything to the heads to keep them from being used or causing some sort of expensive damage that would require alot of machine work to repair? The guys at the yards say the heads are not hurt in the process, but I wanted to make sure before buying them. They look fine other than having some kind of paint or something (looks pinkish white) poured all over the valve covers and intakes manifolds. Not worried about the intake as I will be using an Air-Gap intake anway.

Hey yall I'm new to the site but not new to s-series trucks. I live in Zebulon NC (near RALEIGH) and Dunn-Benson is my local track, which I frequent when possible. I just got out of fast four cylinders and into my slow four banger truck. I have a 350 TBI to swap into my 98 s10 xcab. I haven't done a swap into an s10 yet so I'm sure it will be a learning experience for me. It shouldn't be too bad though since I have experience swapping those EFI Jap motors. Anyhow, I just wanted to say hey to everyone and I hope
I can gain lots of valuable info. from the forums.

I'm selling my 87 S-10. This is a perfect project truck. It spent most of its life in southeren cali so there is no rust. The body is strait, and no wrecks. I also have the carfax for the truck. It has a stock 350 with a recently rebuilt turbo 350. 3.42 non posi rearend. The motor came strait out of a 79 grandma caprice with low miles. It has headers with flowmasters, edelbrock carb, HEI . all of the suspention and brakes are stock, and the truck has over 200,000 miles on it. It has a really nice dash thats been painted. It looks really good. There are no doors on the truck right now. I just bought two skins. One is new and one looks new, and a third one in good condition is included with glass. The hood is removed also. I have good tinted glass for both doors. This is what I've done so far. I have 3600 invested in truck. New battery, battery box mounted in bed of truck with new chasssis ground. new rear dark tinted window with new sill. Phantom 2 tach not hooked up, Edelbrock valve covers, air intake, K&N filter, new plugs, t-stat , radiator hose, synthetic oil, flushed radiator, one new belt, new bumper with hardware, New grille with hardware, with a polished aluminum grille insert not installed, clear parking lamps, audiobaun 4x10's. I have a really nice set of old school slotted rims that are included. They are pretty wide in back. They would look really nice. There is around 3,000 miles on the rebuilt trans. He put 1700 in it. Thats why I paid 2400 for the truck before any modifications. Here are the minor things that are wrong with the truck, the right rear tire has a small leak. the speedo gear housing has a small leak because of a bad oring. The temp gauge reads 30-40 degress over. I think there is an issue with the power steering pump, but it could just be the belt. It's all really minor stuff. The motor is strong. The valve guides are just a little worn, but not bad. I'm asking $1900 not a penny less price is firm. I have pictures of truck on my profile. 2174140701

Finally got a rolling chasis now..
The rear end was finally cut down and the axels cut and splined.
'Borrowed' a pumpkin from my brother, 4.11's full spool.. maybe not the best for the street, but it'll due until I can afford to get something else.

Also 'borrowing' rims and tires from him for now too. 12" tread.. seems a little small, but so long as his math works out I have 14" rims that'll fit 15" of rubber perfectly under there.. when I get the money.

So I can finally finish running brake lines to the rear, pickup some more stainless for this weekend and run the exhaust a little further back, get it ready for mufflers.

We were thinking (and by we i mean my dad) of a way to try and keep the engine from moving too much, kind of like the old chain it to the frame idea, but something a little cleaner looking, maybe making a rod that bolts to the frame and to the serpentine system upfront where the power steering pump used to be? Any thoughts? I really do not want to use a chain anywhere.

Next big step will probably be getting the driveshaft done, hoping I can find someone local who is cost effective.. then I guess the body can start going together, and I can start my journey into the wonderful world of wiring..

Anywho, here's some pics, let me know what you think, if theres any obvious problems that we've missed it would be nice to find out sooner rather than later =D
