I\'ve got a GM 14 bolt rear sitting around. I\'m figuring that it will hold up alot better that that 7.5 inch 10 bolt in the truck now will. Has anyone here ever put a 14 bolt in an S-10? If I were to have the axle tubes cut, have special axles made for it, and change the spring perches, would it work?

yea man I was going to to do that.I was getting one for free but it\'s a pain to get one to fit.A 14 bolt if a full floating axle unlike a 12 bolt or 10 bolt that is not.just look for a 12 bolt I am going to have to.

I believe it came from an 86 1-ton Silverado. As far as it being too heavy, don\'t I want weight in the rear? What is a full floating rear?

For all the money you\'ll stick into that rear you can get a 8.8/9\" ford or 12 bolt or Dana custom made for your ride.
