Default Stk 5spd Tran work behind 385 hp 350? Bell housing?

I recently picked up an 89 S-15 2wd extended cab. Have the motor in hand and am ready to get it rollin:confused. The snag that I am running into (uncertainty I guess), is what to do for a tranny.
1) I have a th350 that I could put in, which would be ideal. Do I need to modify drivelines for that and what about crossmembers and such?

2) What does it take to use the stock 5 speed, will it hold up, and what bellhousing to use?

Any help would be great folks. Thanks alot.

If I were you, I would definately go with the 350. Depending on the output shaft length, you might have to shorten the driveline. I have an 88 long bed and it actually has a two piece driveline with a carrier bearing. Yours might be the same.

As for the stock 5 speed? I wouldnt give it more than a week behind that motor if you drove it daily. Those tranny's are rated for probably a max of 175 horse.
