I use Slide-a-Links and like them. Other guys use Cal-Tracs, and others have great success with GOOD slapper bars. There's been a ton of discussions here about the Slide-a-Links, Cal-Tracs & slapper bars. I just did a quick search and found some links.

As far as any "tricks" to installing Slide-a-Links, no, except that sometimes it's tough getting the rubber bushing out of the leaf eye. Also, the problem I had (that few others seem to have encountered) is that the front mount gizmo contacted my spring exactly where the second leaf ended, and could cause a binding situation, I had to disassemble the leaf pack and chop an inch of so off that leaf. Not really a big deal to do, but something to watch for. Think there is a link to a picture of that in the threads below.

You should defanitly take out the helper leaf if you have one because it will come in contact with the top of the bar.

I did as Grim did and left just two leafs and it seems to work. I got the old rubber bushing out with a socket that would go down through the leaf eye and a 30 ton press. It was no match for the 30 ton press.

I also had to cut the front of my leaf off and I have two left. Slide-A-Links did not work for me. I will say they worked some....lol. Most people really like them tho so it is probably my fault. I have the long wheelbase and it looks like the short wheelbase is the way to go. I have pics of my install in my gallery. Sure looks good.
