Default cast iron cylinder head weight

does anyone know the weight of a small block chevy iron head with valves and springs

OK, 5 minutes later.....
Found a couple BB conversations via google saying that most iron heads weigh 44 lbs. bare, but later castings might be a tick lighter. A Dart webiste had one of their heads listed a 48 lbs. each complete.

Don't kno bout iron heads but aluminum pro 1's are 58 lbs for the set, and when ya pick up iron heads, they feel twice as heavy as aluminum ones.

I've mailed a few before. Shipping wieght was between 65 and 70 lbs each. But thats with the box. I think thier actually about 60lbs each assembled.

hey space what did it set you back to ship them 94jimmy wants to buy a set from me 74cc 67 to 71 327 / 350 heads fresh i took off a 50 mile engine buddy hit a cow lol . #3970126 was going to mail them but he thinks he will up the 19th and get them then , just curious what it cost ya to ship something like that if you don't mind me asking . thanks patrick

Your buddy hit a COW!!! That sucks, I hate to see the pics of the truck!

If hes gonna be up in your area, then picking them up would make life easier and cheaper.
But if you want a price quote check the Post Office web site. I allways ship through the post office. UPS store is too difficult for me to get to cause of my work hours.

Use a clean box, or if the box has markings they have to be black majic markered out. also as with shipping anything, pack the boxes expecting them to be dropped. This will prevent them from being damaged when the get to where they are supposed to go.
